I am all about music, that’s my first job. Born Cardiff Butt in the parish of Manchester of Christian background, General Degree got his musical inspiration from kings of reggae such as Yellow Man and Lone Ranger.

“I always had my little transistor radio under my pillow at night, I would listen to it until I fall asleep”.

Now a veteran in the music industry, General Degree has launched into other successful ventures such as his clothing line “Reh Geh” and his own record label “Size8 Records”.

He told dutchiepot.com how the concept of his clothing line came about. “At first, nobody wanted to wear Jamaica brand. After the Reggae Boyz went to world cup, everybody wanted to be branded in Jamaica colours.”

When Cooyah and other Jamaican brand came about, they inspired me to build my own clothing line. I wanted it to be different so I thought of Reggae and the idea of spelling it the patios version came to me and it was a hit.”

At present, Degree is looking for a permanent location to sell his “Reh Geh” wears. “The demand for “Reh Geh” is crazy, especially overseas like Japan.”

On the musical side, he is working on an album call “Bed Room Gangster” and will be releasing it this year. He has some upcoming tours for this year and will be making a music video for his lovers’ rock single “Always” and will be directed by Asha.
